When (P.E. HVAC) Roberto Villagomez immigrated from Monterrey, Mexico to California in 2006, he didn’t set out to become an HVAC legend. He was a third-generation plumber, grounded in tradition but open to possibility. What happened next was less of a plan and more of a moment—the kind that shifts the trajectory of a life. Soon, the movement of P.E. HVAC was born.
“We landed on a project where HVAC repairs were needed,” he recalls. “I didn’t know anything about furnaces—but I understood the components. I asked for a day to learn the system. We ended up repairing instead of replacing, avoided permit delays, and that was it. I was hooked.”
That unassuming start led to the launch of P.E. HVAC just a year later—a venture that’s since grown into a standout presence in the industry. But Roberto’s path hasn’t been easy. He’s faced everything from language barriers to the steep learning curve of leadership. Through it all, he’s leaned into the trades with resilience and heart.
Turning Setbacks into Systems
One of Roberto’s proudest accomplishments is his innovative HVAC showroom—a hands-on space where customers can see, feel, and understand the systems they’re considering.
“Not everyone wants to pay for a service call. So I built a place where they can come in and learn—for free. They experience the cooling, the airflow, the tech. That makes the decision easier. I call it ‘shop at your own pace.’”
It’s a move that’s set him apart in a competitive market. Customers can walk through spaces with noticeable 10° temperature differences, explore ductless systems, and test-drive their potential installations. That transparency builds trust—and often, long-term business.
Social Media with Substance
Roberto’s online presence is just as impressive. With over 16,000 followers, he’s built a community of HVAC techs, DIYers, and curious homeowners. But it’s not about going viral.
“Sometimes I don’t feel like posting,” he admits. “But someone’s always watching. And if I can inspire someone—even just to keep pushing—that matters.”
His advice to content creators? Simple: “Don’t stop posting.” And his posts aren’t just content—they’re tools. Videos help him document jobs, resolve customer disputes (like the one where a pre-existing stair scratch nearly became a legal nightmare), and trace steps on complex installs.
On the Job: Resurrection by Refrigerant
Roberto doesn’t just fix systems—he revives them. He recalls one Subway shop where years of unaddressed refrigerant leaks nearly shut down operations. Rather than replace the entire evaporator coil—an expensive ask in a rented space—he used Spectroline’s dye and sealant, GLO Seal, to bring the system back to life.
“Two years later, it’s still running,” he says. “That dye saved him thousands. And his store got customers back because it wasn’t an oven anymore.”
Products like the Spectroline GLO Seal EZ-Ject Complete Kit are now staples in Roberto’s toolkit. “I’ve used them over 100 times—especially for resurrecting old units. They give me and my customers peace of mind.”
Leadership, Language, and Living the Dream
But for all the tech, Roberto is just as candid about the human side of the trade. Leadership, he says, is his biggest challenge. Managing people—especially seasoned pros set in their ways—takes tact, patience, and humility.
And then there’s the language journey. When he arrived, Roberto spoke no English. One misunderstanding involving roofing tar and a piece of cardboard nearly got him fired.
“That day changed everything,” he laughs. “I started learning how to ask, ‘How do you say this?’ That was my English school—the job site.”
Now fluent, licensed, and fully immersed in his craft, Roberto says the biggest shift in mindset came when he embraced becoming a licensed contractor. He once believed skill was enough—but credentials opened doors.
“I saw guys with licenses who didn’t know the work. I thought, why bother? But getting licensed gave me access, trust, and bigger jobs I wouldn’t have landed otherwise.”
Future Goals: Going National, Staying Strong
Roberto isn’t slowing down. His dream? To grow his P.E. HVAC brand into every state.
And he’s not just building a business. He’s building a movement. His mantra, “Trade Strong,” started as a borrowed slogan—now it’s a trademarked brand, a mission, and a mindset.
“It means doing your best, no matter the trade. We might be plumbers, HVAC techs, or electricians—but we do it with pride and strength.”
Whether he’s guiding an 82-year-old through ductless options, educating his followers on VRF systems, or navigating the emotional rollercoaster of entrepreneurship, Roberto’s message is clear: show up with courage, stay sharp, and lead with heart.
