Vice President of Engineering Demonstrates UV Technology to Long Island Students
Our Vice President of Engineering, John Duerr, recently represented Spectronics Corporation at the Long Island STEM Career Expo. Held last week at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, John demonstrated the technology behind many of our products used for leak detection with fluorescent dye and an ultraviolet lamp.
One of our products, the EagleEye™ EK-3000, can be seen being used in the above photo. Typically used for NDT applications, this lamp is ideal for fluorescent magnetic particle and penetrant testing. As you can see in the image, Spectroline fluorescent dyes glow brilliantly upon inspection. Other industries our products are used in are HVAC, forensics, and industrial.
Each year Long Island’s 10th and 11th grade students are invited to the career expo and given the opportunity to connect with local companies. This began as an incentive for students who go away to college to return to Long Island when seeking employment in science, technology, engineering, and math. By participating in the STEM Career Expo, students are introduced to and prepared for possible career paths in the sciences.
