Team building is an essential part of any work process and learning experience, building social rapport and critical thinking skills. That is why Spectronics Corporation invests time in fun after-work activities for its employees, such as the collaborative problem-solving event that took place last night at “Can You Escape?”, an escape room adventure in Mineola, NY.
A total of 18 eager Spectronics Corporation employees, including President Jon Cooper, made their way to the escape room location. They were greeted with a friendly staff member who explained the game and set up the event. Two teams, each comprised of engineers, marketers, office coordinators, and warehouse staff, were formed. The teams were “locked” in two different rooms (one, a police interrogation room, the other, the apartment of a spy) and had to use great communication skills, clues, and problem solving to “escape” the room scenarios within just one hour.
The enigmatic evening turned out to be a unique experience and truly engaged the colleagues in dialogue and collaboration. It was an effective way for employees to get to know one another on a new level, and to showcase the critical thinking skills that Spectronics is proud to carry in its staff. This was a fun opportunity for colleagues to get together in a unique situation, work together, and achieve a goal.
