Receiving Clerk

Summary/Objective:

We look for a responsible Receiving Clerk to receive, inspect and record shipments with raw materials or products. You will be responsible for unloading packages and checking their contents to ensure they match the orders.

A Receiving Clerk must have a great eye for detail and basic math skills.  They must also have adequate physical strength to unload shipments as well as the clerical skills to update records and follow up with Purchasing and Suppliers

The goal is to ensure we receive the correct packages, stock them appropriately, get them to the correct end-user, all in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:

·Count, weigh or measure items of incoming shipments in order to verify information against invoices, purchase orders, bills of lading or other records

·Examine and unpack incoming shipments; record overage, shortages and reject damaged items

·Work with Purchasing Department to identify any receipts delivered without correct information

·Work with Purchasing Department on any variances from the original purchase order

·Route items to various departments in a timely manner

·Examine incoming shipments to ensure they meet specifications

·Operate forklift to move incoming shipment to storage areas

·Properly inputs received material into the computer system (Visual) and forwards proper documentation to the Buyer (who will forward all documents to accounting)

·Communicate and coordinate with appropriate buyer for product returns/repairs.

·Verify receipts and log them according to required procedures

·Responsible for monitoring income client RMA processes

·Ensure that all documents and materials received in the warehouse are of satisfactory quality

·Cooperate with representatives from other departments to provide warehouse information as requested

·Drive to deliver and pick up parts to and from local vendors

Competencies / Skills:

A receiving clerk unloads shipments from trucks, remove and dispose of packaging materials, operate forklifts and hand trucks and stock items.

A receiving clerk is expected to have excellent vision and be in good physical condition. Organizational skills are also essential to make sure receiving tasks run smoothly and that items can be found easily whenever they are needed.

Required Education & Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent

2+ years of responsible experience in warehouse.

Proven experience as a receiving clerk; experience operating forklifts.

Working knowledge of computerized inventory control systems.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.

Ability to accurately complete arithmetic computations to sufficiently perform duties of the job.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Clean, valid NYS Drivers’ License

Attendance at work and punctuality is an essential function of this position.

Ability to lift to 50 lbs.

Ability to communication effectively with staff and vendors in English

Required frequently: standing, waking, kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching, and work in hot or cold temperatures.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices and department manuals.

Work Environment:

The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
