Quality Control Supervisor


Ensure quality of materials and products


·Become the in-house expert of all basic QC inspection operations; reviewing and refining all procedures in conjunction with the QC Manager (QCM)

·Assist QCM in general oversight staff of QC inspectors, ensuring that all incoming, in-process, and final inspections are being performed correctly and expediently.

·Assist QCM in ensuring any necessary cross training of inspectors is properly and fully executed.

·Oversee incoming inspection with the guidance of the QC Manager, ensuring that inspectors perform the necessary checks for raw materials and finished goods. Clearly document and report any non-conformances to the QC Manager and initiate any required CAPA reports.

·Manage incoming Dye and Oil raw material receipts, sanitizing as necessary, assigning lot numbers and recording all necessary info in the Chemical Receiving Log.

·Create accurate Certificates of Conformance for customer orders, including standard COC format, radiometer calibration point COC (also verifying the cal points were all checked), and any custom COC format that may be requested by Sales/Customers.

·Create Certificates of Analysis as needed, tracing final product lot numbers to the related raw materials, reporting test data recorded on the vendor COA and/or data provided from the Chemical Lab.

·Manage all non-conforming materials in concert with ISO 9001:2015; purging defective items on a regular basis, and ensure all production departments are following suit.

·Report and manage correction of errors BOMs, adding approved In-Process and Final inspection instructions as need.

·Generate first article inspection report per engineering documents when needed

·Perform special projects assigned to QC by Engineering, including testing of components with various tools including a calibrated radiometer, digital multimeter, calipers, etc.

·Manage dye/oil RMAs, tracing the lot number for date of manufacture, determining whether the product in question is to be refurbished/restocked or discarded.

·Audit the QC Dept. inventory via VISUAL Manufacturing, correcting any “negatives” or false inventory;

·Oversee vendor samples, verifying them against mechanical drawings and logging the storage location.

·Record incoming receiver info into an Excel file, making note of all defects, reviewing history of received components determining appropriate sample inspection size.

·Periodically audit warehouse stock of any product/component that may fall into question for repeat defect issues.

·Performs other QC duties as instructed by the QC Manager

Competencies / Skills:

Read and understand technical documents, drawings and Bill of Materials (BOMs)

Familiarity with company’s Visual Manufacturing ERP application

Ability to use common inspection tools and instruments

MS Office proficiency.

Excellent communication skills with strong writing skills; Spanish-speaking a plus.

Yes, in the absence of the Quality Control Manager

Required Education & Experience

Associates degree in Quality Control, Engineering field or other Science related field preferred.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a QC role, with working knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100 and ISO17025.

Preferred Education & Experience:

Previous supervisory, laboratory, and/or meter calibration/testing experience is preferred.

Work Environment:

The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
