IT Support Specialist


The IT Support Specialist position is responsible for providing quality and efficient end user support for Microsoft Office 365. Under the direction of the IT Manager, the IT Support Specialist position installs, modifies and makes minor repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems, and provides technical advice and support to system users. He/she will be able to identify, analyze and resolve technical problems with accuracy and thoroughness while meeting productivity standards.


· Identifies and procures the hardware and software needed to satisfy user requirements.

· Installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and disk drives on users’ premises.

· Loads appropriate software packages such as operating systems, networking components and office applications.

· Assists in the customization and adaptation of existing programs to meet users’ requirements.

· Coordinates activities with vendors and network services and information systems groups.

· Provides updates, status and completion information to manager and/or users.

· Refers major hardware problems to IT Manager for correction.

· Connects users to networks and provides initial training in facilities and applications.

· Maintains records of technical support requests and complaints; communicates information such as software bugs, weak documentation, and new product ideas to appropriate departments/teams.

· Administers e-mail and anti-virus systems.

· Rotates daily back-up media.

· Assists in research and procurement of computer accessories and supplies.

· Performs technical support staff duties as assigned by IT Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:


Required Education & Experience

Associate’s Degree or Trade School or

Certification 1-2 years of relevant expereince

Preferred Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree 2-4 years of relevant experience

Certifications & Licenses

Preferred Microsoft Office Certified Specialist



Work Environment:

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
